Gaza School Bathrooms

Can you help us help a school in Gaza?

Nazwa school in Zawayda, which we had the pleasure of visiting a few months ago, has deplorable toilets for their students and teachers and they need our help.

As you know, sanitation and hygiene is paramount for every school, but especially for one that has endured a blockade and genocide. Nazwa school only has a couple of toilets and sinks for the 470 students and 20 teachers, and these are in disrepair with constant leaking, bad smells, broken sinks and little to no soap for hand washing.

When talking to the school’s principal Fatmah about the student’s health, she said, “The first was similar to chickenpox, we had to constantly disinfect around the clock, and we were about to suspend work. The second was hepatitis, which is spread across all camps and somehow made its way to the school. The school is big and students are from different areas, some from camps and some live in schools around us, their life is not easy.”

When we asked a parent of Nazwa school about his thoughts, “Honestly, my daughter has been complaining. She keeps saying the bathroom is bad and that she can’t even go inside.” They even need bathroom doors for privacy, as Israel bombed this school as they do to so many. “We bought one in March but they bombed near the school so the door was crashed and we couldn’t buy another one.” says Fatmah.

What they need are the most basic of needs, toilets, doors, faucets, cement, wiring, soap and soap dispensers, and help from a plumber and transportation.

With your help, we are hoping to raise $4,000 USD to give this school comfortable, healthy, and safe bathrooms that will give the students and staff what we all deserve, dignity.

Thank you.
